ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced

Based on 75 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
The Enhanced is a capable, budget-friendly pick that gives you detailed HVAC runtime data and plays nicely with HomeKit and Home Assistant for roughly $60 less than the Premium. But owners repeatedly knock the clunky slider and dated interface that make dialing in a temperature take several tries, along with readings that don't agree across the thermostat, app, and HomeKit and a fan control awkwardly tied to the system. It also skips the room sensor you'd get with the Premium and trips up on some hot-water and accessory wiring setups.

45% of 75 verified owners recommend the ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced.

I set a max temperature range and the sensors cut off the ac if the slider is open for longer than 5 minutes. You can also add room sensors to it too, but I don’t have them and unsure if you can prioritize them, but I bet you can, the smart sensor is the room one you’re looking for. Overall pretty happy with it.

I tried calling their tech “support” line today and it was laughably bad. The lady didn’t even know the different models and even recommended I buy the Lite3 which is literally the only model that will not accept any accessory at all

Have to manage it with an average temp that keeps everything steady. And disable follow me since it would roast the upstairs or freeze the downstairs depending on the situation.

I have tried with both an ecobee Enhanced and an ecobee3 lite, and it wouldn't work on either one.

they’re easy to install and work with HA… unlike the previous “smart” honeywell thermostats we had installed. The mobile app works well enough

They work okayish, to turn off ceiling fans for bedrooms. You can kinda get them to turn off lights if you don't mind them being on way to long.

Recently installed an Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced myself and I have noticed the same thing.

I have the ecobee smart thermostat enhanced with three sensors. It actually makes a difference.

a lot of us who have Smart sensors took the thermostat out of the equation because of its high variability

if you don't have a smart thermostat at this point ( I use an Ecobee Enhanced) the data that you can get from them might be very useful to you. I can tell how long and how often my HVAC runs, whether it is at stage 1 or stage 2 or auxiliary heat and their individual durations. And it gives a great deal of control over the parameters for when aux will run if

so i'll be swapping out Enhanced for Premium later today. And return the Enhanced.

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced is a high-performing smart thermostat that is easy to install and use. However, one can achieve significantly better performance, enhanced remote access, and greater temperature setting accuracy for a slightly higher price.

Premium has a much nicer metal body and includes 1 smart sensor.

I have had this same issue in one of my rooms with both an Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Voice Control and the Ecobee Enhanced, so do not think it is fixed with the newer thermostats.

I've used the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced with Home Assistant, and it works well for local control and integration. No major issues, but keep an eye on firmware updates for compatibility.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I have the ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced and the ecobee thermostats reads 72°F, the app reads 73°F (and has never changed), HomeKit shows 70°F. My humidity levels all show 100% which I know isn’t right.

I have 2 ecobee enhanced models that don't double as a smart speaker.

i am only relying on Sensors to control the Ecobee ever since.

Being able to add remote sensors in rooms that get colder than the hallway (where most thermostats are located) is nice so you can have more effective heating where you need it.

The Ecobee interface is confusing, but otherwise works well.

the Premium and Enhanced are mostly closed up, while the 3 Lite has this nice, big ventilation path right behind the heat-producing screen. I've extensively documented my issues with the Premium and Enhanced here before

Damn site prettier than my sensibo air.

New Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced is blowing warm air in the cool setting. Put old thermostat back up and it is working properly again.

My home is very comfortable and according to the power company I use less electricity in the summer than what they consider an "Energy Efficient" home of the same size.
