“both HR and SPO2 were mostly identical as I watched the hospital telemetry screen and she called out the values from her Vivoactive 5 on her left wrist while in bed. I know this is not the same as using it during exercising but I thought it might be important to say, just the same. For $250, 7 day+ battery life plus the Garmin Connect app...for those on Android IMO it's tough to beat for the price”

“I have a VivoActive 5 and am mostly happy with it. I am 80 years old and do walking & weights. No running or biking.
The good: much cheaper than the Venu 3. Similar accuracy”

“no matter what I changed in the settings or custom stride length it was always way off on distance and pace”

“I used the watch during both indoor and outdoor cycling workouts and found the heart rate measurements were surprisingly consistent with the results from my Polar H-10. My results were relatively consistent with your evaluation of the Vvivoactive 5's heart rate measurements, with my results within 1%-2% of those from the H-10. While the the Vivoactive 5 was slightly slower to respond to heart rate increases and decreases when starting and completing higher power efforts, the 1-3 second lag was well within my acceptable expectations. The amoled display is beautiful and is easily visible with clarity both indoors and outside in bright sun. Agree, Garmin has far to many different watch models, quite confusing for the consumer. Awesome fitness watch at a great price”

“had it around 1 year. Miss the speaker and slightly better messaging from the galaxy watch 4 that I changed from, but way better for sports”

“I tried the VA5 and found the buttons to be horrible. I also thought the touch screen functionality very glitchy. For example, the screen would randomly go black when scrolling through and editing watch faces, forcing me to start the process again. Very annoying. Garmin support suggested extending the screen timeout and turning off auto brightness, neither of which helped. I also tried the latest beta software (as of Feb 2024) to see if that fixed the problem, but it didn't. The VA5 is a big step down in quality from my old VA3. I returned the VA5 and opted for a Foreunner 255”

“So far I love it!!! It's got everything I was looking for in a Watch. I don't need to make phone calls from a Watch because I'm literally never without my cell phone. So the smart watch features Apple watch and Samsung watches have I don't need. This watch is perfect for me”

“A couple of things I like about this watch
Battery!
Display
One of the issues I’ve noticed is the amount of gesture it needs to turn the screen on. Feels more than other watches - even the Venu SQ”

“think it's a great mid range device for general health tracking. It's not going to win any awards against more expensive feature-rich watches, but I think it's good bang for your buck, the battery lasts around a week, and it works will with the Garmin golf app too”

“My experience of the sleep tracking matches your data. Keeps taking a lot of time off my night, apparently light sleep and being awake can't be kept apart for Garmin”

“I upgraded to this watch this was very helpful. I did have to stop and go back several times as it is fast through some instructions This is user friendly”

“regret of spending $180 on this device that I needed it to. Track my workout automatically like Fitbit does without the hassle. Fitbit is $80 in border line ready to return this device since it's not working for me”

“So, a bit flimsy for a watch that is of course not as expensive as the other garmins, but would also not call it very cheap.”

“Looks like the Respiration Rate feature is pretty useless. In my case it shows 14 bpm even during some "energetic" exercise such as Corpse Pose”

“screen covered with light scratches after 3 days of use although the hardest objects it came in contact were bed sheets and clothes. it feels like it's covered with cheap plastic or just regular glass. otherwise great functionality and data”
