Finally, been waiting ages for this

The an1000 has a well documented problem with hiss and crackling with streaming. I experienced this first hand with my unit using airplay even with repeated unit resets. Returned to Best Buy for a similarly priced Yamaha Rx V6A and no problems at all with streaming

I have never been more excited for the average consumer

I bought new Sony TA-AN1000 receiver after couple of days the receiver start pop sound and goes to protect mode then turn off and back on in 5 to 10 second.

I've owned the AN1000 for almost a year and it's a great solid receiver, output per channel is lower than advertised, prob about 80w rms @ 6ohms.

I bought one on sale for 599.99 its a steal imo, with Klipch dolby 5.2.2 ATMOS set up with sony ps5 this is outstanding!

I currently own this receiver and previously owned the STR-DN1080. Both are outstanding products but they both have one annoying problem.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Sony an1000 is a piece of crap. Glitchiest receiver I ever had. Makes PS5 screen go green on HDMI A and B Screen flashes off and on. Crap remote.

Yes they’re junk and support is worse. I have a str-an1000 it half way works with harmony remotes but here’s the kicker it comes on later all by itself after you turn it off to standby. 10 minutes 15 minutes who knows.

So far it's been flawless

I got a STR-AN1000 last month and it was pretty good no doubt, however, the eq was not something i enjoyed a lot. It was good no doubt, but my new avr, onkyo nr7100 and the dirac is way better and i get a much better surround sound feeling as compared to the str-an1000

Many connectivity issues including center channel connectivity, software upgrades, Roku connectivity issues. Just not user friendly.

I was blown away by it. very surprised.

with the Sony you can even feel it in the ground

I bought this receiver in December and eventually paired it with a Klipsch 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos home theater speaker system. (R26-FA towers, center, 2 rear). Well satisfied with the complete package so far.

Overall I am happy with the sound quality and the spatial sound mapping is pretty incredible. Though I am not that happy about a crackling noise it makes when I pause and resume playback on some files. Like when I use Plex to watch a movie with 5.1 sound through ARC and I pause it, the speakers make a pop sound when the receiver switches between audio format

Unfortunately the audio issues with Apple TV and my Sony have driven me up a wall. My current "solution" is I have switched the TV to "game mode" and that results in audio/video that is in sync. The downside is I lose Dolby Vision.

Avoid Sony Receivers, I'm stuck with a receiver that I have to hit to get the left speaker output working every start.

After the calibration with the included microphone the sound is just insane, can't imagine it beeing better. Especially the beginning scene in Mad Max blow me away.

I like Sony mostly for the 360ssm, but I hate it for front display being very minimalistic and the menu system being very minimalistc

Otherwise, the amp is really great and sounds good. Beside, I must admit I'm not 100% satisfied with the vocals when watching movies

YouTube▲ recommend

That's why I love Sony products.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I HATE the Sony AN1000. It will randomly shut off and reboot itself for no apparent reason. Wish I never got it.

Common problems & things to know

Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.

However if they are connected to the AVR (Sat and Media), the audio is out of sync with varying results. Using manually set delay to 230 ms gets close, but not perfect, depending on content being played.

AVS Forumⓘ good to know

every time I turn the receiver on, the display on the reciever no longer shows D.C.A.C., SPA, HDMI OUT A, or NETWORK. All of those have disappeared. I can also confirm that the D.C.A.C. (auto calibration) is not being used.

AVS Forumⓘ good to know

there's still an A/V sync issue when devices are run through the receiver to the TV, except while in Game mode.

I’m learning to live with it I guess. Not a big problem but annoying to me.
