Shimano Curado DC

Based on 141 comments across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners overwhelmingly love the Curado DC for its digital braking, which makes backlash and birds nests nearly impossible and lets it cast smoothly even in heavy wind, earning it a reputation as a forgiving, premium reel. The main caveat is reliability: a handful of owners report gritty reeling, clicking, or lemon units within months, and several feel the high price is hard to justify over much cheaper baitcasters. It's best for anglers who want a versatile, confidence-building reel and don't mind paying a premium for the easiest casting experience.

83% of 141 verified owners recommend the Shimano Curado DC.

We can tell you our Shimano Curado DC's are bad ass

The Shimano cast further and feels very very nice, but the Tatula is my go to.

I now have a $260 Shimano Curado DC that I’ve stepped up to.

Shimano Curado DC. This reel casts lures heavier than 3/8 oz really far. I tried Fluorocarbon as mainline on this reel and loved it. I love that DC whine. Palms weirdly though and it’s not a light reel.

I've been using a Shimano Curado DC with 30lb PowerPro Original braid and a 14lb Trilene XL leader, but I'm not happy with the reel. I can see why others may like it, and the fit and finish is excellent, but I regret not getting another Daiwa Tatula.

I just recently bought a shimano curado dc 151hg and I’m absolutely obsessed with it.

The one thing I do love about my Curado DC is that I can cast into 20+ MPH wind by turning one knob setting from 3 to 4.

I now have 4 others, including a shimano curado dc, and the piscifun is still my favorite.

Price is salty af, but Shimano Curado DC reels are what I use.

I own 2 Curado dc’s and they’re great but idk if I’d put them leaps and bounds above my buddy’s SLX DC.

I also picked up a Shimano Curado DC, but it doesn't work any better than some of the other baitcasters costing 1/10th as much, a bit smoother reeling perhaps, but not enough to make a difference.

the Shimano Curado DC reels are legit. i have been using one all season and while i did have a few nests at first, i now almost never have them.

The DC is nice to have if you live anywhere considerably windy though.

Shimano curado DC. This reel is just smooth as can be. The build quality too is wonderful. Fun to have a dc reel in the arsenal

I just bought a Shimano Curado DC and with the microchip it's supposed to be foolproof....but it birdnests like crazy and casts like shit.

Both are good reels; however, they are heavy.

My Shimano Curado DC can cast those pretty well. I have it on a med-light rod and throw 1/10 Ned heads on it no problem.

Although it felt buttery smooth, I couldn’t justify the price tag in comparison with my Lews combos and ended up returning it

I have a $25 Abu Black Max that casts just as good as my $250 Shimano Curado DC, it’s all about the settings

Buy a Daiwa Tatula SV or a Shimano Curado DC. You learn the idea of a bait caster but they're very hard to backlash.

i have a shimano curado dc and it never gets used because the sound is just annoying as hell

My dad blew 300 dollars on an abu revo rocket and it doesn’t even compare to my shimano curado dc
