“My major complaint with the OP3 is its difficulty in handling the "blues." I'm not sure if it's a common complaint but I've been finding it hard to deal with the "blues" from all my clips actually.”
“Often with the pocket3 it's not even worth the time to shoot in d-log and color grade. Standard is what I typically use and still looks great with a fraction of the editing effort.”
“used the P3 a lot, quite creatively and I don’t think I’d have the courage to use it for a wedding. Using the P3, which let’s be honest is very limited compared to a professional camera and lens”
“The Osmo pocket 3 does look great when you work with the D-Log format though! I’m satisfied. It’s not perfect at all but i paid only $600 so seems accurate”
“I've been very happy with the footage. A little post work and it's great. I certainly would not use it as my primary cam but for the use I described, I am happy with the investment.”
“I bought one over a year ago. Use it mainly only for family get together. When im out exploring im still using my phone. I cringe cuz I bought all thr accessories and im too lazy to bring it with me in my edc bag”
“don't do it, I love the thing and I love how easy and quick I can shoot with it, but I regret getting it every single time I edit the footage.”
“The Pocket 3 genuinely surprised me. It is not as good as my Sony ofc, but with way less hassle you get some really quality footage that does not look no way near as digital as from an iphone.”
“I have barely used mine since I bought it, although it is a nice product, now might be a good time to sell haha”
“The pocket 3 really is a cheat code, and it opened so many doors for me in the past year that were previously inaccessible. It fights above its weight class for sure.”
“It’s a great little thing but I feel you can TELL wheats filmed on an OP3 for btter or for worse.”
“The pocket's sensor was just slightly larger than 4k pixels so couldnt do a lossless digital zoom. This annoyed me on the pocket 3.”
“so no you could not do this on the OP3 or anything similar, I know because I tried with mine.”
“Hell yes it's a good buy watch for sales they're out there. And 100% recommend it if you don't already have a small pocketable portable cam. I take mine evewrywhere!”
“When i use the manual joystick the footage doesn’t come out as smooth.”
“I’m pretty much exclusively use Pocket 3s now. The clients started commenting how clean the footage was after I started using them and their lightening speed to setup and take down in comparison.”
“What annoys me the most with my P3 is the codec in video - it is quite soft, especially in 4k120, it does have a keyframe each second and because of quite low bitrate (for 4k120) I can see 'a step' every time a new keyframe arrives - it just drives me mad - fix that first please.”
“I remember using the Pocket 3, and I was just not impressed at all.”
“Pocket 3 is good except I don't find it's wide enough just like the Sony cameras. I still prefer it over my Sony ZV-1, ZV-1 II and ZV-E10s. The OP3's gimbal is far superior to the Sony's built-in video stabilizer.”
“Damn thing is like a Timex watch. Takes a licking but keeps on ticking. Although it still works and is fairly durable.”
“My osmo pocket 3 had a gimble error out the gate making it unusable”
“I LOVE my 3, only complaint is the damn small screen. Sometimes hard to tell if it's focusing on the right thing.”
“I agree on all your points and now prefer my OA5 to the OP3.”
“the OP3 is a far better per-dollar value. I have no problems with image clarity when things are lit properly.”
Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.
“First off. Put it back on continuous focus. Second. Are you colour grading it in post production otherwise dlog is gonna look garbage. Set it to 4k. Auto exposure. ISO 50-1600. Normal 10 bit colour.”
“If you haven't already try lowing the ev value to -0.7, might help. But it's always going to be difficult to get perfect exposure from a little camera. When you have dark, darks and bright sky's imo.”
“Full auto is the way if you’re not grading. DLog needs a grade or it just looks flat and lifeless. Shooting standard/normal profile on auto will look better straight out of camera with zero extra work.”
“Its now 37MP instead of 9.4MP, allowing for a supposedly better 2x lossless zoom when recording at 4K... Pocket 3 advertised lossless but 4K is 8.3MP”
“Important to note, unlike the OP3's creator combo, the OP4 creator combo does not include the Battery Handle. But it does include the new light and a 2nd soft shell case/pouch, and the included microphone is the DJI Mic 3”
“With this LUT you basically go to a look that's very similar to the non-d-log footage from camera, albeit with more dynamic range preserved. Otherwise you can colour grade your D-Log footage in multitude of ways and to your liking”
“The Sam's Club version (at least all the ones I've seen) is basically a Standard with a 128 gig card and an extra battery. No mic.”
“you are watching the LRF video, Take the SD Card or USB file transfer to a laptop/PC to get the actual full quality video.”
“I had the same issue when I first bought the camera. My issue was not exporting out at 4K. I was editing in Davinci Resolve and exporting at 1080p. If you’re shooting at 4K make sure you change your timeline settings and export at the same.”
“yes the phone priview on the dji mimo app always has a low res quality preview unntil u download it compleatly”
“Also sometimes I’ve found the labelling to go all wrong and it doesn’t label the file in sequential order”
“Lol, that's the preview file for sure. Download the actual file/video to a laptop/pc and assess then.”
“It has a 20mm in the FF equal world. Then it has a 2x zoom (40mm) if you shoot in normal mode.”
“If you have the pocket 3 and are thinking about the pocket 4, your nd filters for the pocket 3 will work on the pocket 4 as well as the battery grip from the 3. Unfortunately if you a cage mount for the 3, it won't work on the 4. I have both and I'll find a use for them.”
“The Osmo pocket and X-E5 serve different use cases. The osmo has an inbuilt gimbal and has object tracking, and other really useful stability controls. The equivalent would be buying one of those giant gimbals/stabilizers to then attach your X-E5. I have a similar setup.”
“Nd filter for bright situations (especially if you’re looking to keep 180 degree shutter)”
“Thank you for your comment. I used a 1.1x anamorphic attachment on my OP3 but it didn't really give me the true anamorphic characteristics that I was aiming for. So, I had to work a lot in the post (chromatic aberration (RGB split), lens distortion, etc.) to get that look.”
“And don’t use the shit digital zoom on it either. Always only the native 1.0x zoom.”
“You don't set it, when you're shooting manual the EV number is there still, but this time it's the camera telling you what it's measuring the image as (an exposure meter) based on your other settings. So you make adjustments to ISO/ND/Shutter to get it to display that -0.3 EV.”
“The Pocket 3 does something weird when you go full auto where it has better dynamic range than in manual mode. Just a test. You might like what you get (and yes, since it will be 10-bit footage, you can still add luts and play with the colors a bit without the image breaking down).”
“If it’s the latter, you could also try setting noise reduction to -2, as noise reduction can smooth out fine details in the video. It would be great if you could upload a sample of the unedited file showing the issue. That would make it easier to determine what’s causing the problem.”
“I set mine to default for the sharpness. Set it to continuous auto focus.”
