“I find that way more complicated and time consuming with the 1zpresso grinders”
“looks like that rubber “strap” or whatever is useless”
“I moved to the izpresso J-Ultra for espresso, but had a number of times where the magnetic catch cup came off spilling everything or on a light roast, turning with increased difficulty made the knob come off.”
“BLOWN AWAY how much better the construction and the easy of grind the J Ultra has over the K6”
“i have and love my Q2, so getting this one, for me, would be redundant”
“How is there no retention in the grinder, my catch cap holds a lot of coffee after grinding”
“wow what a change!!! Much faster grinding, much better grip and a better cup-holder.”
“This is BAD because after you've ground a containers full and replaced the bottom it can and WILL fall off and spill grounds everywhere”
“I got the K-plus about6-7 months ago and have been super happy with both pour over and espresso”
“I have a J Ultra and K Ultra. The K Ultra is a little more difficult to use. However I did get a Flair Tower to pair with the J Ultra and K Ultra to use for espresso grinds.”
“I had an issue with the wood handle and 1zpresso send me a new but they are not sure for the futur it makes me afraid a little.”
“These are really bad boys!”
“Was very happy with it while I used it. Mainly moved away due to my preferences having shifted to lighter coffees, which it does not excel at.”
“I've used the 1ZPreZo J Ultra and I liked it because of its adjustability, its impressive build quality and the compact build and portability.”
“Easy to use, well engineered, virtually no retention. Grind quality very consistent.”
“I also have it and by week 2 we had to buy an electric grinder (around the same price) and my husband took this one to work.”
“One had my 1Zpresso for over five years and it's still going, but the grip material wrapping the outside has started to deteriorate.”
“I absolutely love this grinder!”
“I purchased the flair power tower after using the J-Ultra manually for 2 months n never looked back”
Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.
“I switch hands halfway through the grind. At my coarseness, I need about 100 cranks to grind the approximately 15 gras of coffee in the grinder, so I count cranks and switch at 50.”
“Could rather be your Grinder. Or maybe watch the Pressure Gauge when pulling a shot. I dont see how the machine is at fault if it goes up to pressure the same on both shots.”
“Something is wrong with your unit. I have a J-Ultra. Grinding 15g at 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, takes less than a minute, I don't know exactly how long, I've never measured it.”
“Crank with both hands, and at an angle so not all the beans go in at once. This way might take longer up to a minute or a little more, but will not hurt your wrists”
“I'll be able to handle it but my wife tried grinding today and found it more of a chore than she appreciated. I told her she'll just half to keep me around.”
“Try use a self leveling tamper instead of a click tamper, but keep in mind inconsistency is inevitable, if changes between shots are not insanely wrong”
“I'm sceptical. In theory, the grinder is designed to be powered by a handheld drill if I want, but all that did was change the grind setting mid grind.”
“Have you disassembled them both, cleaned, and inspected? K-pro seems like something is wrong. J-ultra since it’s new to you needs more data. What happens when you change beans? What happens if you grind courser?”
“Something i noticed with my hand grinder was that very large beans ( java) took WAY longer to grind. Might not be the issue but still interesting”
“No shot is ever exactly the same because there are always small variations in grinding and preparation, no matter how consistent you try to be.”
“I’ve been using the J Ultra for a few months now. What I’ve noticed is that the effort to grind is dependent on the beans themselves. Most are fairly easy to grind. One espresso roast from a local roaster was quite hard.”
“Yes same. The lighter the roast is the harder. I found that holding the grinder horizontally makes it way easier. Just takes a bit longer.”
“Hmm, I’m around 1.5.0 to 1.6.0 and I’m 14g in approx 30 seconds. Must be another issue with your grinder AND I can’t imagine setting 1.2.0”
“I get you. Espresso is definitely much harder than pour over on a manual grinder. That said, 1.3.0 shouldn’t feel that extreme. Most people here report around 50–70 seconds. If you’re way above that, something might be off.”
“Yeah I ran about 5g of beans through and then took it apart and patted every dry that was able to come out. This unfortunately was in my personal room and I have no where else to put it, and I couldn’t go months without espresso”
“That’s not the same as my experience. Are you using a power drill or impact driver? The grind setting should not be shifting at all.”
“How do you find femobook a2 , mavo vs k ultra on pour over? . I got timemore whirly01s , mavo , femobook a2 . Do i miss some stuff?”
“Ok, so this is what I am seeing wrong rather that what I do wrong. Any advice on how to try to be as consistent as possible?”
“All grinders can be finicky. Are you holding the grinder the same way? I think somebody last year claimed tilting the grinder was a way to slow feed the beans. But 36 up to 55 is a huge jump. One thing you've learned you like 55 more than 36”
“The key thing is I only have light roast beans. I dunno. My pourover 20g takes 30 second and espresso is way finer”
“As a desk worker it was just needed for me tbh. Big fan of a lot of curls/extensions at 3-5% of your bodyweight.”
“I have both the K plus and the J Ultra and the blind shaker wont fit into the J ultra because the K Plus is wider and overall chunkier. The blind shaker of the K Plus is a smaller diameter of the catch cup, defeating the purpose of distributing coffee.”
“The 1zpresso store has replacement parts: https://1zpresso.coffee/product/jultra-spareparts/”
“Yeah the Pietro makes some great filter and soup. I don’t typically make modern espresso, I’m more of a trad espresso guy, and for that I use a J-ultra. The Pietro stays at home though, keep in mind it’s a pain in the ass to travel with. I keep a ZP6 in the travel bag.”
