“Really annoying and unacceptable at any price point.”

57% of 37 verified owners recommend the V1 Max, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.
Affiliate blogs here say 100% recommend, while the owner-based score is 57%. They earn a commission on every sale — so we show them for transparency but never let them move the score.
The headline score reflects owners (Reddit, enthusiast forums), independent lab tests, blogs with no affiliate links, and YouTube owner-comments when they line up with owners. YouTube and Affiliate blogs are shown for perspective but kept out here — hover the i for why.

“Really annoying and unacceptable at any price point.”
“It's absolutely incredible for a budget board.”
“They're fine, and if you don't want to shop around, they're fairly safe.”
“it's super loud and clicky out of the box”
“Definitely not a bad keyboard..”
“my only complaint about mine is that the keys don’t light up, so it makes it slightly more difficult to see in the dark”
“Other than that, the key feel good to type on”
“it feels great and for the price I think it’s good value and high quality”
“this same issue is happening for me too except all the layers are bugged and glitched”
“V1 Max is notorious for having a whole row suddenly broke and not working even after factory reset”
“Clicky klackety, Not a quiet keyboard. Letters dont light up, which is good for lights out use.”
“Man, this keyboard is awesome! No complaints at all, everything's super smooth.”
“for my taste it's too easy to trigger keys and I end up with a lot of unwanted characters”
“The gap on the right side of the V1 above the right arrow makes my OCD go wooba wooba wooba.”
“Picked one up the other day and I love it.”
“it's a nice keyboard for the price and quality it provides”
“my Keychron V1 Max keyboard connected via Bluetooth freezes many times daily. When I stop typing and want to continue writing or just use a shortcut (Cmd+C, Cmd+T, or any other), the keyboard stops responding. It's annoying.”
“It's very lightweight. I picked up the galaxy80 instead for that heavier, more stable build.”
“another faulty keychron they just keep making things worse”
“It's a solid a.f keyboard.”
“A couple of nice things on the V1 side, though - storage for the USB dongle and a hardware switch for Mac and PC modes”
“I think it's a bit chattery”
“the Jupiter reds have not had this issue in my experience, and I am sensitive to sound”
“It's a good board but constantly forgets my settings and resets to default rainbow barf LED colors.”
Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.
“I tried both ways and I also waited for around 5-10 seconds and the 4 key started flashing so I'm pretty sure ive done everything right. Didn't work”
“You just created a thread asking for shine-through keycaps for your V1 max. https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/1i8moy3/shinethrough_keycaps/”
“Do controlled experiments to find the cause (though it can be difficult if it is an intermittent problem—it is very easy to come to the wrong conclusion in that case), starting with reseating (and only reseating).”
“Maybe it’s the higher keys on the V max that I’m not used to? Cuz I did not make typos on the Logitech Mx keys s. Could I get keycaps to replace the default ones on the V1 max would that make a difference you think?”
“Appreciate your comment, really liked the idea of the heavier spring will consider doing so, and will also check your switch recommendation”
“I don't believe the V1 Max has multiple dongles. As far as I know, both have a single V1 dongle and can alternate among multiple Bluetooth connections) Edit: My mistake. It appareny comes with both a USB-C and a USB-A receiver.”
“Tried everything except a different PC/Os, I will not be able to test with another computer unfortunately”
“If you’re looking to replace the switches, I bought some Akko V3 Pro Black switches that I really enjoy.”
“Moving them around helps, which is what annoys me the most. It means the switches are kinda faulty no?”
“Otherwise it's probably (Everything is subjective) quite better. Use the dongle on the computer where you're gaming. For office work you don't realy need high speed WiFi connection. Btw re office work, you're aware that these boards are quite laud, much louder than membrane keyboards?”
“Since I don't own a Mac, the lack of a Mac switch isn't an issue. Storage for the USB dongle is not an issue for me either as the dongle will be plugged into the laptop 24/7 just like my mouse. How is it with switching between devices? V1 MAX has two 2.4GHz dongles while P1 Pro has only one.”
“Gateron Jupiter Banana, K-Pro Banana, or Keychron Super Banana?”
“Did you set it to 2.4GHz mode with the switch on the back?”
