Google Nest Cam (Battery)

TL;DR
Owners are mostly frustrated with this camera, above all by battery life that runs down in a few weeks to a couple months and drains even faster in cold weather. Many also feel pushed toward a paid Nest Aware subscription to get usable recording history, and complain it misses events and pairs with a slow, crash-prone app. Bright spots like sharp daytime video, easy setup, and a strong magnetic mount aren't enough to outweigh the recurring complaints.

27% of 30 verified owners recommend the Google Nest Cam (Battery).

It's a Google nest battery camera. Quality is good, but it has some gotcha's.

I did notice that the nest cam with battery went dead really quickly too. Usually its 2 months, barely a month and it wanted recharging.

I bought a Google Nest Cam (battery edition) for my unit and it works super well. The battery lasts three months and it adds an extra layer of proof

Get the google nest cam (battery). A cinch to setup, the battery lasts a few months between charges, and they will record any activity/movement and send your phone a notification.

I purchased 4 Nest Cam Battery cameras in 2021 and have regretted the purchase.

I used the battery for only a couple of days up at the front of the house and the steady stream of people and cars was draining the battery.

I prefer the Google nest cam battery version but hook it up to a power cord, so that when the power stops working for some reason but the internet is still on then it'll still be operational

I purchased the new doorbell and outdoor and have returned both for a refund.

Battery cam in the backyard is fine but expect to recharge it every few months depending on activity. Cold weather kills batteries faster too.

I found that battery life could last up to about one month on a charge, but I averaged around 2.5 weeks during that testing period.

The most reliable and consistent has been the Google Nest Cam battery. Having 24/7 recording has been amazing.

It ended up being my Google Nest Cam Battery model. I had done multiple reboots, then remove from the network and factory resets of the camera. It just would not stop grabbing the same IP

My Google nest battery cams miss about 50% of the events I'd expect them to record. I'm looking to return them and go with a different security camera.

I've been extremely happy with my (5) Google Nest cams. The latest models run on battery

Yep! I have to charge it every 3 - 5 months depending on the weather.

This actually replaced a Google Nest Cam Battery. The two cameras aren’t even in the same league and would be difficult to compare.

Why has the quality of the night images of the Google nest cam battery deteriorated so much? A few months ago it was much better.

I really like the Nest Cam Battery, though.

Daytime pictures are about as sharp and clear as we've seen

The battery on their cam doesn’t last very long. Maybe 2-3 weeks.

I left a two star review in their Home app on how UI unfriendly it is, how you must navigate trough multiples menus to get something done and how its missing simple key features.

The worst I experienced in the depths of winter with the camera mounted at the extreme limit of my Wi-Fi network's coverage, was just four days before the battery gave out.

My biggest complaint is that these cameras fail at their purpose: they don't record half of the events. Animals are practically impossible to record, no matter that there are settings specifically for that purpose.
