my Denon X3800H did. I mean hot as in relative. It's not like it burns. But it was definitely hotter than what I'd like electronics to be at.

I just bought a Denon X3800H AVR. The video upscaling is really great on this unit.

I have a Denon x3800h it's not the greatest AVR but not the worst either. I quite like it for home theater and multi channel audio/Dolby mixes.

Replaced the cinema 70 with a denon x3800h. Much better room correction (obviously) , but even missing warm and stereo image of old Kenwood.

One issue the 3800 has that drives me crazy is when watching Directv stream through Apple TV it clicks loud when the audio formats changes like from show to commercial.

I've had two Denon's die on me and literally no other brand. So I would absolutely not buy that one.

I have now a x3800h and upmixing is absolutely unnecessary. Setting the AVR in auto mode is enough.

for "normal" sound like 30%, it's okay but for "heavy" sound, like 70%+ it will heat too much

Denon is a good brand, you just got a seemingly bad one.

It does run hot. You will need some sort of ventilation or cooling solution up top.

X3800h was a hassle free replacement for my old denon 3311ci. I needed 4k. After running room adaptation I can hear voices much better on the x3800h. The setup was super easy and fast.
