JBL Charge 6

Based on 62 comments across 2 communities
TL;DR
Owners love how loud and full the Charge 6 sounds for such a small, throw-in-a-bag speaker, and they praise its rugged waterproof build and the upgrade over the Charge 5, especially when two are paired in stereo. The recurring frustrations are that bass thins out above roughly half volume while the highs keep climbing, a default tuning many find too bright, and battery life that falls short of the claims at louder levels. It suits someone who wants a tough, portable speaker for personal or small-room listening at moderate volume more than a single-speaker party box.

52% of 62 verified owners recommend the JBL Charge 6.

the charge 5 and charge6 are absolutely the same in performance their just different in design but overall quality is actually worse and for the price its a big scam.

My Charge 6 speaker is great by its not the clearest. It pumps out the audio and but I’ve heard clearer sealers.

the Charge6 because Auracast tuning really sounds good. I love heavy bass and although I’d like a tad more I can live with how the speakers sound now in stereo.

what I don't like is that above 75% or 80% volume, the bass disappears. Below 75% or 80%, the bass sounds very good and strong (in stereo mode with two Charge 6 speakers).

Worst thing is probably the carry strap. Feels a bit flimsy. Other than that it’s great. It gets pretty loud for its size and u can get some good low end for its size.

Its normal for this model, i sold it and bought JBL Xtreme 4 because of battery life. The Charge 6 uses about 5% battery every 10 minutes at max volume.

This jbl sounds amazing in the shower I was blown away. I went from using those small cheap ones and they all died sooner or later and sound quality wasn't good.

On charge 6 i found heavy bass masked vocals more. I tried lowering the lower bands bass on EQ but still wasn't happy with it.

I have it and perhaps the worst thing is not that it's mono audio, it actually sounds incredible, but that at high volume levels beyond 75% the bass no longer stands out.

The charge 6's don't have dedicated midrange drivers so this eq is essentially boosting what the charge 6 excels at and pulling down what the charge 6 sucks at lol

I have both the Charge 6 and the Xtreme 4, and honestly, I love the portability. No downsides really. Mono I’m pretty used to, and it’s basically a mini xtreme4

I bought it and returned it because after getting used to stereo sound, I could no longer listen to music in mono.

It has a noticeably different sound compared to the Charge 5 with fuller mids and less bright highs. If that makes sense, it sounds more “energetic” AND loud.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

There is no point in turning the volume past 60% because the only thing that gets louder is the highs and mids.

Charge 6 got the low end that's for sure.. If you reduce the low end down to 50% however, it sounds almost the same but worse compared to the Everboom.

My charge 6 has also decided to take a swim in the Gulf as well last fall due to waves coming up and wanting to take it for its own. Still works like a champ

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

My charge 6 sounds good up to 50 percent... From 60 percent, the bass stops and only the treble gets louder

Probably the sharp high mids & lack of ports. Wish it had a little more bass as well-- this seems to be remedied somewhat in the last firmware update.

it is waterproof and that includes Steam. What i would do though is put it standing on its side because the horizontal space is too small and that may increase the temperature of the radiators, it has happened to me.

I think Charge 6 battery life is lot worse than Charge 3 had. I need charge it lot more often.

The battery is absolutely amazing on this thing too. Charge it like once a month lol, using every day (but only at about 35% volume) in my kitchen

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

The overall sound quailty just wasnt for me. And the bass was nothing after 50%

Reddit— neutral

Realistically you will get 24 hours on maybe 20-30%, which is already a nice listening level, and quite loud compared to other speakers...

I've had my 6 longer than he's had the 5 and the feet on mine are still holding strong after a year. Plus the 5 sounds much more tinny than the 6
