Sony ZV-E10

Scored on 169 verified owner verdicts, from 1,936 comments read across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners see the ZV-E10 as a genuinely great-value entry into vlogging and content creation, with standout autofocus and a small, flip-screen body that beginners grab and go with. The honest catches are real: nasty rolling shutter, no in-body stabilization, no viewfinder, and only 8-bit color, so handheld video often needs a gimbal or fixing in post. It's ideal for new creators on a budget shooting mostly on a tripod or gimbal, and a poor fit for fast action, run-and-gun handheld video, or anyone who needs serious stills controls or heavy color grading.

52% of 169 verified owners recommend the Sony ZV-E10, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

Me siento decepcionado

me parecen muy buenas las mejoras que traen pero en fotografía es muy útil el visor casi indispensable

muy buena opción. No se equivoquen al pensar que es una camara para "iniciar" NO. Es una herramienta muy poderosa. :)

Also I have sony zve10 even though screen is bad I can use it and keep in my pants pocket.

Yo estoy feliz con mi Sony ZV E10 con un lente Sony 11m f1.8 y graba súper profesional.

Zve10 cannot save any custom profiles. Each time you format your SD card you lose all the profiles. Try to save for a6600 at least. Trust me the battery alone is worth it. The older batteries are crap and I had to use 6-8 batteries on a 2-3hr shoot.

This phone obviously can't match the Sony cameras in quality

I've taken fantastic photos with my ZVE10, but I later upgraded to the 6700 and it's miles better

difficult to pull critical focus on zve10 with manual lenses, i love using them and can recommend wuite a few, but no evf and that screen + weak peaking support means i wouldn’t recommend them

con una pantalla que te da mucha flexibilidad para hacer tomas en ángulos poco comunes es perfecta

Wanted to use ZV10 for wide shot at event and the noise was so bad and color interpreation strange (blue were produced as purple), that had to ditch it and go to rental place to get new camera.

me da bastante miedo que a veces prefiero no hacerlo y pierdo contenido

Cada que te preguntes si la zve10 es útil hoy en día, recuerda que hay gente cubriendo eventos con la Canon T7 y modelos por debajo.

I had a zve10 and used it for shooting portraits in office buildings. I had to turn off all internal lights and find a corner with natural lighting otherwise the banding was terrible.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Thought zve10 would be super easy to use and it just isn't. I also can't fit myself normally in the frame. I have a lens kit that is absolutely useless.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

the only solutions I’ve found do not apply to our cameras. It’s needing anti flicker shoot or variable shutter, which the zve10, for some reason, doesn’t have. I have been desperately trying to fix this myself.

Ya recuperé la inversión con creces

Reddit— neutral

after 2 years of use, I upgraded my sony zve10 to the a6700 because the a6700 provides more external controls/dials, has better stabilization, and has a viewfinder.

Reddit— neutral

my previous camera is a zve10 that at the same amount of shots with the same kind of use plus an extra smack to the ground from a tripod was in better aesthetic condition than the xt5 currently is

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

It was fun but picked up an a6700 and never touched it again. I kept it around as sort of a B camera if I did video stuff but eventually sold it.

Reddit▲ recommend

lol my zve10 + 50mm f1.8 was fine even when drenched, and it wasn't remotely weather sealed. You'll be fine.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I have both and rarely use my zve10. The Sony needs to be on a tripod or gimbal as it has no image stabilization. The 16-50 mm lens is good for far away shots but if you plan on being at arms length it won’t be so good.

si sabes utilizarla es increíble, su sensor es el mismo que la a6600 incluso es mejor que algunas full frame

Btw I bought a Sony ZVE10 last year and it's been serving its purpose. Two downsides though is that it doesn't have a viewfinder and built-in flash like the A6400.

Common problems & things to know

Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.

Redditⓘ good to know

Now, ZVE10s autofocus is great... when shooting photographs. For videos though, especially those that are supposed to look “cinematic” it was way too noticeable when it would shift.

Redditⓘ good to know

zve10 has BAD rolling shutter, nothing bad for photo but pretty bad on video, if video taken with OSS lens, you can stablize and remove rolling shutter in catalyst browse app

Redditⓘ good to know

the Zve10 is in essence the same camera as the whole a6xxx line up in terms of sensor performance. It just lacks a EV but does have animal af unlike my previous a6300.

Redditⓘ good to know

First, remember that there's rolling shutter in 4k on the zve10, also, have a wide lens (maybe kit lens) and a prime lens, like the sigma 30mm 1.4. Those can do

Redditⓘ good to know

i shoot on exclusively nonstabilized setup (vintage glass on an adapter, zve10) and i'm confident you won't have issues in daylight. long exposure stuff? bring a tripod. short stuff? works fine at 1/60

Redditⓘ good to know

I use Sony zv E10 that's 8 bit. Stabilization, Color correcting/grading in post feels good if clips are small. If you have a talking head video over 10 mins, it takes a long long time for pc to process.

Redditⓘ good to know

I upgraded from a ZVE10 to a 2nd-hand A7C for the exact same reasons (bought mainly for video, but also inspired me to pick up photography again and was missing the viewfinder), haven't looked back since.

Redditⓘ good to know

I shot this on my newly purchased Sony ZVE10 with my kit lens. I’ve been learning the basics is shutter speed, iso, exposure and all that fun stuff.

Redditⓘ good to know

Zve10 deletes all custom profiles everytime you reformat the card. So you won't be able to have any personalized profiles unless you're ok with manually removing files from each SD card when you're done shooting.

Redditⓘ good to know

Zve10 is more of a video taking camera without a shutter. It should be able to handle it without overheating unless you're going nuts with it.

Redditⓘ good to know

Zve10 is a fair bit smaller and cheaper. No ibis and no EVF (which the 6700 has) That's pretty much the key differences for photography.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have an old phone (galaxy s20u5g) and a sony zve10 (I think it has the same sensor as the a6400) and yes, the difference is abysmal

Redditⓘ good to know

Image quality is very similar. For photography, the ZVE10 is obviously a usability step down, not having a viewfinder of any sort. For videography that doesn't matter that much, and you gain 4K recording with no time limit.

Redditⓘ good to know

recently I have started shooting in the slog 2 on my Sony zve10 and being getting better results compared to shooting in just std

Redditⓘ good to know

xt5 user here, coming from a sony zve10. you’re absolutely right. sorry, op. fantastic camera for controlled environments tho

Redditⓘ good to know

I have a ZVE10 mark I and it doesn't work with the application. I also have an FX30 and that can be managed with the app.

Redditⓘ good to know

I got the ZVE10 to play around with first then sold it after 2 months bought this full frame and the rest is history.

Redditⓘ good to know

My ZVE10 white after around a year of ownership only gained a few scuffs that revealed the black plastic underneath.

Redditⓘ good to know

Usually one hour sets, but I need dummy battery for the zve10. The a6700 holds pretty well for 1h-2h recording

Redditⓘ good to know

I have my ZVE10 specifically because when I started I put 25% of my budget into the camera and 75% into glass.

Redditⓘ good to know

The zve10 is the video/vlogging specific model. A used 6500 or a new 6700 will do much nicer for photography.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have a7RV, zve10, and pocket 3. Big, medium, small. I'd consider zve10 and a6700 both medium sized.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have a zve10 and A7cii. The color difference is noticeable. The a6700 sensor was a big step up.

Redditⓘ good to know

I owned a zve10 for about a month. The sony autofocus definitely outclasses the s5ii autofocus.
